The Pleural LDH of a Patient With an Exodate
The patient has an exodate meeting all three of the criteria that we previously discussed. The cell count was notable for 8,000 with a lymphocyte predominance and cultures in cytology are still currently pending. When I see a pleural fluid of LDH greater than 1,000, I tend to think of three things, ampaima, rheumatoid pleurisy, and malignancy. One other consideration is that I can also be elevated if serial dorus and TCs are performed,. This is from inflammation within the pleural space.
