The book came out in January 2020. And the pandemic hit in February. So I thought, Oh my God, my book is dead. But actually there has been a lot of interest exactly because the pandemic brought to light what had remained hidden in plain sight. The most affluent countries could not cope with the virus that was neither too deadly nor completely unknown. Our societies themselves had become precarious by disinvesting from healthcare and disinvesting in public services,. weakening us both as individuals and as societies.
