The History of the Names in the East

By the ninth century, people started renaming stuff. There was probably just a shift in fashion and they realized that High Place sounded stupid even in Latin. As with most changes in fashion, this meant that the old style started to die out. And of course, now that English was the dominant language in the east, you have a lot of English names in that area. But that doesn't mean that this is proof of genocide. It probably just reflects shifts in culture, language, and style.
