The Confessions of Augustine
Augustine wrote his confessions between the time he had converted to just the verge of catholicism and had accepted an appointment as bishop of hippo in northern africa. Augustine never, in allthe 13 confessions, ever presents himself as anything but a sinful man. But for augustine, the confessions are first and foremost a prayer of thanksgiving.
