Are the Greek Gods Personifications of Ideas?

Greeks and the romans would understand their deities, or some of their deities, as personifications of ideas. I see more ar a, more of an archetypa nature in the ancient greek gods. We have all differ ideas in our head that come to the fore at different times. Ther sort of a multiplicity to the contents of the human mind. i believe that mirrors polytheism more closely than it mirrors a theism.
