He used to subscribe to a lot of magazines, yno, including ancounter. Used to come home, quest used to come home. Then we used to get soviet literature, which is from the soviet union those days. So his rootedly cosmopolitan tsense was there. His assignments to me, summer assignments to him, amith was asking me to translate,. He would say, by the time i come back, this is a short poem or a short story - and you should have translated it by then. And he put me on this balingui swing o, you know, right? Very, very early.
He grew up breathing Kannada literature -- and he also embraced the globalised world.
