Europe wants to keep buying oil and gas from russia, but can't convert those dollars into able currency. The thing about that is its kind of a mutually assured destruction situation. Russia needs the money too. They need to sell the oil and gas to keep their economy going. If they cut off their exports to europe, they're damaging themselves. It's remarkable wheret you see a huge majority of german citizens in favor of their chancellor's plan to triple military spending.
