The History of Capitalism

The first chapter of your new book starts in Surat, South Asia. How should global history be taught? I think we have a much easier time than explaining why this word again is changing today so you can look at one particular city for example and write the history of that city not as just a self-contained unit that can be explained out of itself but rather as part of a network of connections that that go to all different parts of the word.
