Single Lung Ventilation
Transtracheal jet ventilation is one of the things in the ASA difficult airway algorithm listed under invasive airway access. Studies have shown fairly high failure rates in cannot intubate cannot ventilate situations as well as a high risk of barotrama when this is used to ventilate especially in smaller people or pediatric patients. We should be moving away from this and going straight to a cric or an emergency trache if we need invasive surgical airwayaccess.
