Franco's Origins
Franco was not a fascist, but worse in some respects than Mussolini. The number of Spanish citizens that were massacred by Franco is giganticly more than the Italians who were killed by Mussolini. But basically, to go back to your question, when I said that in some respects, Franco was not afascist, he was something worse. He is what in Spanish terms one would call an Africanista. That's to say, a colonial army officer who was formed in the African Wars in Morocco.
