Palestinian Arabs - Is 1939 With the White Paper the Year of the Arab Leaders?
For years, the Arab leaders have used this plight of the Palestinians as sort of like their Sudetan Germans. It was a way to focus domestic populations at outrages outside their borders and take their eyes off of their own domestic problems. I think it happens starting in 1936, 37, and then really comes to fruition in this conference that I mentioned in 1939. The British allowed the other Arab leaders to come to the table. And I should mention that the Mufti rejected the white paper, perhaps predictably.
