The view is that, you know, Ukraine has always struggled against Russia. This is the primordial enemy. Importantly changes to cultural policy in Ukraine since 2014 have to be taken into account where the proportion of Russian language on Ukrainian television has been intentionally reduced. It's use in school has been also severely limited. What we are seeing right now is a language shift driven by a need to signal political loyalty.
