Asylum - Is Ireland a Refugee Country?
The number of asylum seekers arriving into ireland has surged in recent months. Thereis now about 15 thousand people in state accommodation, compared to around seven thousand people this time last year. Fiona hurley is the chief executive of nask, the migrantin refugee right centre in cork city. She says it's hard to point to any one individual factor as we've reached a record 100 million people forcibly displaced worldwide.
