The Fear of Sex in the Church

Jerome was probably one of the greatest Christian scholars in the world by his mid 30s perhaps the greatest figure in the history of Bible translation. He spent three decades creating a Latin version of the Bible that would be the standard Christian text for more than a millennium. So he came up with assigned values for women based on their sexuality and ranked marriage just above fornication. This sort of fear of power and sexuality crept into the church.
