The World Bank Definition of Extreme Poverty
The world bank defines extreme poverty as not having enough income to meet the most basic human needs for adequate food, shelter, clothing, sanitation, health care and education. Between 19 90 and two thousand 15, more than a billion people lifted themselves out of extreme poverty. It can be reasonably claimed that the global poverty rate is now lower than it has ever been in recorded history. But according to the most recently available data, 736 millions still live on less than one dollar and 90 cents a day.
