The Importance of Sex Selection in Countries Like the UK
People who have some kind of genetic difference from their norm will feel that society is prejudiced against them. Short people for instance may then feel doubly discriminated because not only are they short but they're people around them telling them that it's hard to be short. In countries like the UK or America or Australia people typically want sex selection for their second or third child - and just over 50% choose to have a girl. Those sorts of choices don't express any discriminatory attitude and nor will it affect the sex ratio of the country.
