Was Renoir Influenced by Manet?
I think the way she paints is perhaps the absolute essence of impressionism. She's very consistent in what she paints and certainly greatly admired by her colleagues. But did she influence them? Do you mean did they imitate what she paints? I thought she was a gentleman, did you? Well, yes, we can point, perhaps, to how I would like to give an example. Manet is the key example there, because one thinks of Manet as such a figure who generates almost a world on his own but actually Manet was very much influenced by her. The kind of eriness of her touch and the use of the brush and the sense of this light-filled world. Absolutely
