EU was prepared to deal with Rishi Sunak as opposed to Boris Johnson. They felt that his government was a lot more stable and less divisive. He's willing to set aside the Northern Ireland Protocol bill which would have unilaterally pulled out of older entrants in Northern Ireland Basically, if the UK didn't get what it wanted. I think we're still waiting to see what Johnson's response is And the Times' report in this morning that he will be critical of the deal But ultimately be prepared to back it is quite telling.
