Bobby Kennedy's Campaign
RFK's main residence in 1964 was at Hickory Hill in Virginia. He chose New York where his Republican opponent was Kenneth Keating, a liberal Republican who supported civil rights and even backed RFK when he was nominated for the Attorney General. The campaign chartered flights just to fly footage to local news stations so they could broadcast it on TV. Bobby spent $1 million on TV ads, which was a king's ransom in 1964.
