Moral Relativism
Two of the most widely read academic defences of moral relativism, by social scientist ruth benedict and william graham sumner. They essentially argue that because there is wide disagreement on moral beliefs and practices, there is no universal object morality,. And thus moral relativism is true. I think it's a weak argument, and as going to go over some of the problems with the argument. The fact of moral disagreement does not entail moral altivism - just like disagreeing about the shape of the earth doesn't mean Earth has no shape. Perhaps some cultures and individuals have gotten morality wrong – something we all already believe.
