The Uneasy Marriage of Democracy and Capitalism

The founding fathers of the US were very keen on democracy, all of them back in the late 18th century. They rather look down on the people and so they created a system that was designed to limit it. One danger is the plutocratic oligarchy and the other danger is an autocracy. In the United States, I think very clearly, we're seeing an amalgam of the plutocrat with the autocratic forces. We simply don't know which is going to win at the moment.
