The r n t trying to get a pay increase roughly in line with inflation,. whereas the government is trying to keep that much lower - around 2-3%. Delphin Sous: Government can put more money into the railway, but they already have 16 billion pounds worth of emergency funding and think that's untenable. And essentially, if you want to close that funding gap, you can either raise ticket prices or cut costs.
