I was doing a talk yesterday at a university. One of my favorite things to do is ask people, what are some creative ways to deal with distractions ahead of time? And one person said, I just leave the office when I want to focus on something. He goes to a cafe. He leaves his phone at his desk. And he just gets the hell out of there and focuses on something at Starbucks. So calculate it. You can chart your energy levels if you want, but you don't necessarily have to. We tend to have more flexibility over our work than we think we do.
