How Ted Dartmouth Doodled
Ted Geisel was a jokester who never took life seriously. In college, he once got in trouble for drinking gin during Prohibition. After his first year at Oxford, he dropped out to pursue a career in drawing. On July 16, 1927, after many attempts trying to get his artwork published, the Saturday evening post paid him $25 for a cartoon. It was his first real money with art, and with it, he moved to New York City.
