The Petty Sovereign and Racial Violence
The figure of the petty sovereign has maintained a very important place in settler colonial states. It's actually, you know, citizens who fall into a long established kind of racial kinship with the sovereign state. So we can think about how that's manifesting in this particular moment in the context of rising authoritarianism and white nationalism. And i say that just a sort of underscore once again that race and color are not in identity and even national origin.
