Freud's Regressive Return to the Mother
Freud seems so attached to his edible scheme that all he can think of is, yeah, that's exactly the all too warm and fuzzy place that we need to get out of in order to face real life. He puts the emphasis on the authoritative father, but he doesn't hint that this oceanic feeling, this feeling of oneness. Yes, that was modeled for the child precisely in its relationship with the mother. So the mother's embracing securing and so pleasurable hug is this Oceanic feeling in its most primitive moment.
