Gate Cycle - What's the End Goal?

Boeing's new 737 Max 8 has a different response to gate cycle than the Airbus A320. An automated system that tried to calculate and recalibrate automatically the position of the plane relative to the change in pitch was causing planes to fall out of the sky. Boeing didn't really know how to make retraining on the new aircraft very short-term. There was a little blurb about it, but they were kind of told, hey, look, this new engine with the 320neo goes all good off you until a bunch of people started dying.
