The number of Americans who are willing to serve in the military has been slipping and it has fallen now to a troubling 9% official say. Why might that be that fraction of people who even want to do this is dropping? That's a very good question. Well, there's another factor too, which is the pandemic has hurt academic standards. People have had a hard time studying online. And so academic scores have dropped. Another explanation would be the polarization of politics. You've got people on the left who feel that the US military is an instrument of racist white supremacy imperialism. And you're also getting people on the right who feel thatthe military has been taken over by wokeism.
