Michel first experimented with the membrane protein bacterial rodocin, and made some progress. But it wasn't until he switched to the protein driving photo synthesis that he had his big break through. Photo syntetic protens are an excellent source of material because they are abundant. And if they don't feel happy, they change their color. Man can see they do almost from the outset of his scientific career.
