When we're all born, no one has the ability to self-regulate. And so a really big part of this process of healing anxious attachment is learning to find that backup power source. We have this response of hyper-activating in the event that there's any threat to the relationship because we've learned to derive our safety from the other person exclusively. Our response is going to be very hyper-activated, mobilized, intense.
