Is the Church a Destroyer of Rituals?

The tolling of the bell was a ritual that was practised widely before the 16 hundreds. It was believed that if you would ring the church bell, it would actually kind of created the spiritual forces that would go and do battle with the dark demons of death. There are names etched into bells from the 13 hundred, 14 hundreds that say, i am the breaker of lightning. Oif there was a bad thunderstorm, they would toll the bell. And because they thought that that was a way to combat dark spiritual forces. But as protestant christianity grew, the tolling of The Bell eventually died out.
