The History of Computer Chess

In the 1960s we already had amateur level computer chess program. In the 1970s they reached that 2000 ELO points where they were about at expert level master is 2200 ELO points and in the 1980s they reach that level. By the 1990s there was a steady progress and they finally got to the point of being the top level in chess which is grand master grandmasters are 2500 ELO and above. The world champion Gary Kasparov played the best chess playing program at the time which was IBM's Deep Blue in two matches in 1996 and 1997 and in fact in the second match the computer won.
