Today we're talking about Andy Stanley's latest controversy after he said in a conference speech that gay churchgoers seem to have a lot more faith than straight ones. We explain why the language Stanley uses, as well as his dismissal of scripture (calling relevant verses "clobber passages"), is ultimately unloving, as it dismisses the need for repentance for both this lifestyle and the reliance upon "sexual identity." We break down exactly what he said in his speech and give some background info on Stanley's history of controversy. In 2018, Stanley found himself in hot water after he undermined the authority of scripture in a speech, claiming that Christians should "unhitch" from the Old Testament. And ultimately, if Andy Stanley believes he can do a better job of reaching people than God can, or believes that God is too harsh, then we should call this out. Then, we're joined by Jacob Kersey, a former police officer who made headlines last week after he was put on leave for refusing to take down a social media post expressing his Christian views on same-sex marriage. He decided to resign after he was told he was not allowed to post "offensive" beliefs on his personal social media, and he's now speaking out about the importance of being an outspoken and bold believer.
