The Importance of the North Pacific
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken has made a deal with Papua New Guinea. US military presence there is set to be ramped up under a new security pact. This deal has been struck at a meeting in Port Moresby involving 14 Pacific island leaders. The details of this are yet to be made public, but some details have already been leaked and it is causing controversy in PNG. There's a real jostle for power in the Pacific now between Washington and China.
