The Police Union and the New York Times

Cops and fire fighters fier city campaign urged visitors and tourists to stay away from what they described as an apocalyptic whole. Yemoa, they create the police union. They drive around the city with these sound trucks kind of blaring these messages about mugging. And iinenc it presented in these heavily racialized terms. It was really a pretty reactionary argument that framed them as the thin blue line between society and chaos. I think part of what i wanted to do with this book is show how fear could be mobilized not just from above but also below.
