The Differences Between a Fresnel and Softbox

A Fresnel is essentially a type of magnifying glass. It directs the light in one direction. There's another style of modifier called a spotlight or an ellipsoidal spotlight lens thing, which is like Legos and Source 4s. I think there's a wider gap, Fresnel's won the tools that there's a wide gap between people like knowing how to use it and thinking they might want one.
