The Dangers of Natural Pandemics

Scientists were working with a stream of flu that is particularly fatal to humans. They used biological techniques to get the flu to evolve over and over again until they're working with ferrets, which would be sort of a model of the human respiratory system. It's an example of research that could create a pathogen that's actually worse than anything that occurs in nature. But if a virus like that escapes the lab, then we could be talking about tens of millions of fatalities.
