Psalm 23 is, of course, written straight out of his daily life as a shepherd. Tweny nine clearly grew out of a violent thunderstorm. David acknowledges that it's unusual for a man to write poetry and to be so honest about his inner fears and his inner anxieties but it's all here. A lot of the psalms come out of a crisis,. Some are national, for the whole people of god. People cry in times of national crisis. But there is a big difference between psalms that grow out of arisis and psalps that come out of normal, quiet living.
