The History of Silo
Silo is an eventual consistent database that is API compatible with Apache Cassandra. It's designed to ingest lots of data and scale horizontally. By doing this, it's really hard to guarantee SQL levels of consistency. Silo was around 10 times faster than Cassandra in a variety of workloads. For some workloads, for example, Discord has, you're willing to make the trade.
