CNN's John Defterios asks: Is the US playing any role in this? He says usually these anti-democratic maneuvering draws a very strong rebuke from the U.S. The administration has gone out and said democracy promotion is going to be a priority, but it's difficult with countries that are either struggling with democracy or even illiberal,. So I think they would love to see a democratic Thailand emerge.
