Is There a Problem in Incentives in Higher Education?

How do we design, in our ideal scenario, a university system, or an educational system? Maybe it doesn't have to be the university that places the premium on that pedagogical experience. I'm not convinced that when it comes to certain subjects and teaching certain students, that your research feeds back into you being a very good teacher at the elemental level. And so at the uni f chicago used to be like that. When i was teaching a the committee on social thought, there were still people who were legacies from that, older professors who had been hired just to teach in the college, but had never been given appointments, i in the university.
