The Importance of Bloodletting in Medical Therapy

Harvey's discoveries didn't make any impact at all on the way people went about bloodletting and emetics. The whole of medical treatment was founded upon the notion that the way to cure people most of the time, if they were ill, was to take out venous blood from them. Harvey carries on bloodletting exactly as if Galen's account of how the body works is entirely true. So there's this strange world in which medical therapy is quite out of touch with advances and understanding of the functioning of the body.
