Lucretius is famous for a poem called de rarum natura. He was hugely prized as a poet by his contemporaries and immediate poetic descendants. Ovid in one of his amores poems, says that the verses of the sublime lucretius will die only on the day the world ends. But the world nearly di end, because for a really long time, there was no lucretius. His work was missing. For ages, the first copy of lucretius survived to be discovered in the renaissance. The most celebrated facts about him aren't facts at all. They're made up. And also, he's accused of having died by suicide after drinking a love potion
