The Drawbacks of Life Miles

First time using Avianca life miles. After lots of research I found a flight that suited my needs for 12,500 miles and $12.91 per ticket. The taxes went up they weren't $38.73 but rather $374.40 there was no way for me to see that before transferring the miles from Amex what did I do wrong? Do you have any ideas, any thoughts about that? We got an email at our mailbag address that said this isn't my post but could you talk about this on the podcast or write an article?"
