Bob Dylan and John Lennon
Bob Dylan started off as a very writing, very incisive, very forthright protest songs in the early 1960s. One of the motivations for his assassination was that his writings and speeches in the 60s against a formal religion. So if you're Bob Dylan and you've just got an acoustic guitar, the words are really important. John Lennon is perhaps less important, because there's a drummer behind you and guitars clanging around.
