The Essenes and the Three Divisions of the Canon
Some argue that Enoch is considered scripture within the Kumram community, but this is also false. Roger Beckwith demonstrated that the Essenes adhere to the three divisions of the canon in the standard count of the canonical books. Even though three of the sections of first Enoch had been written by the time the Essenes split from the other Jewish communities, they grouped them in a separate appendix.
