The Cells

In the 1980s she purchased this sort of giant Brooklyn studio as well which allows her work to really grow outwards and at that time you mentioned the cells and these works. I remember just being so haunted by these cells they're almost these kind of architectural kind of prison like private chapel space works. These are not the products of an artist who has the answers or who is telling you a story about herself but what is going on is a very disquieting play with memory and invocation.
