The Two Stages of the Christian Hope

I hear many Christians without Christians saying this I'm so looking forward to being reunited with XYZ did you know. The Bible isn't very interested in where people are immediately after death if that was the name of the game then the New Testament is very misleading because there's only half a dozen passages which even touch on that. John makes it quite clear throughout the gospel that what happens after death is only temporary before the eventual new creation and Paul says our desire is to be away from the body and at home with the Lord.
