Psychopaths Can Empathize, but They Don't Always Have To

James fowlan is a professor of psychiatry in human behavior at the university of california urvine school of medicine. He says psychopaths can empathize, they just don't have to all the time. It looks like it might be something they can switch on and off, which is good news because it turns empathy leads to more positive or pro social behavior. The fact that psychopaths are capable of feeling sympathy may explain why the label psychopath doesn't necessarily mean axe wielding, violent danger to society.
