The Liberatory Objective of Identity Politics

Crenshaw: Identity politics exists in tension with the idea that we would empty identity categories of social significance. Liberationism is another name for kind of middle stage critical theory or late stage critical theory, where the goal is to have liberation from capitalist systems and oppressions. She says yet implicit in certain strands of feminist and racial liberation movements was the view that difference need not be the power of domination. So we can bring up difference without it being about racism as most people think of it is about domination.
